Baody of European man found, dumped in canal in

Police in Cambodia were today trying to establish the identity of a white male found jammed into a suitcase which had been dumped into a canal. The soft-fabric bag had been bound with tape, with only the battered head of the victim protruding from it. The grey-haired man, who was dressed in shorts and a blue T-shirt, is believed to be a European national who was at least 40 years old.  He died from a severe beating about the head with what police believe was a metal rod or an axe. Bones in his head and body were broken and his face had extensive scratches and bruising. The man was found by shrimp fishermen in Kep province after the ‘rolling suitcase’ washed up onto the side of a canal near a mangrove forest near the Vietnamese border.
